In general, I’m actually much more interested in him as a philosopher than as a theologian.  That being said, I think that hes hard to place. As a “French Catholic” hes pretty wide of any dogmatically conservative conception of Catholicism. I think in general his precedence of Catholicism is a product of his strong distinction between philosophy/theology (possibility/actuality) which I find hugely problematic to begin with.  Also, I think he is relying upon the long view of tradition, in which Catholic Mysticism really held the only route to a God beyond Being for quite a few centuries (theologically speaking). But that’s all I really have on that.Reblooged~?

  • Question: I would love to see Camus and Sartre dancing! - ghostdetective-deactivated20130
  • Answer:

Sartre doesn’t dance.  He only mourns the abyss of freedom. (Like Kierkegaard)
